Special Immigrant Juvenile Status

Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) is an application for minors who cannot or should not be reunited with one parent or both parents because of past abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

In most cases the SIJS process requires working with the civil court in the county where the minor lives to appoint a legal guardian.

After appointing a legal guardian, the SIJS process requires working with immigration officials and in certain cases, the immigration court, in order to ultimately get Lawful Permanent Residency (“Green Card”) for the minor.

Our Firm can help you or someone you know navigate both the civil court proceedings and work with immigration officials in the SIJS process.
